Initial Assessment

Service Description

If a specific assessment has not been requested by your GP or Paediatrician, the carer and child attend the Initial Consultation, where the speech pathologist/therapist will collect case history information (if an Enquiry Consultation has not taken place), observe and screen your child’s speech, voice, swallowing, fluency for stuttering and language skills. From here the speech pathologist/therapist will provide feedback to the carer and discuss future options, such as whether any further assessment is necessary or whether therapy is required.
